Fishing Opener Sunrise

This morning is the fishing opener in Minnesota.  I decided to head for the lake front and see how sunrise would play out. I was anticipating far more than the 3 boats I saw on the water, but the sunrise was fantastic.  There was a good cloud cover, that later produced snow flurries, with an opening on the horizon to allow some color to pop through. Prior to the sun breaching the horizon, the sky was filling with intense pinks and purples.  When it did rise, it gave a beautiful golden light which did not last long, as the cloud bank quickly covered it.  Below are a few shots of the progression.

Cleo Hiding Out

With the COVID-19 pandemic, I am working from home and Val is working half days in the office.  Cleo is now living her morning hours not confined to her kennel or the entry way.  Instead, when Val leaves for work, she heads under the bed to sleep.  This morning, I went to check on her and saw her lying down with he head sticking out.  I grabbed the camera, and to get this angle, I sat it on the camera on ground and captured the image below.

Wisconsin Point Lighthouse

Winter gave a slight reprieve last weekend, forecasts predicted mid-40’s in Northern MN.  Val and I decided to make a road trip to Duluth for the day.  Canal Park was really busy, so we decided to head over to the less visited Wisconsin Point Light on the Superior side of the harbor.  The weather was perfect for drone photography.  Temps topped out at 49, clear skies and virtually no wind.  Below are a few images of the light.

Upper Tahquamenon Falls

Due to weather, we decided to cut our stay in Mackinaw City short by 1 day.  Instead, we decided to take a different route back home, heading further north that originally intended.  Our route would include a stop at Tahquamenon Falls State Park, Michigan.  Val had found information about these falls from one of the brochures she collected at the Seul Choix Lighthouse.
