Read detailsThe Bemidji Water Carnival is going on this weekend, so I took one evening to wonder down to photograph some of the rides in motion. I went with the intent of doing some really long shutters, turning the rides into streaks and circles of light. Exposures of my images ranged from 0.5 to 15 seconds.
Read detailsIt is that time of year where the Minnesota State Flower is in bloom. Yesterday after work, I drove up to a spot a co-worker mentioned and found one large bundle of about 10 fully bloomed Lady Slippers. I spent a little time, and found a few angles to photograph. While I would normally have a macro lens in the bag this time of year, I have been trying to photograph various birds and other wildlife, so my bag had the 150-600, 70-200 and 24 TSE.
Read detailsI enjoy photographing cars in general, but I really like photographing the details, and nothing more so than the badges. When I photograph the brand badge, I try to incorporate the grill, as it adds shape, texture and flow to image. This image is the front badge from a black BMW with black accents. The light came in from camera top left, just grazing the grill while lighting the badge.
Read detailsWe did a few trips to various beaches and points in the peninsula. The weather looked like it was going to turn for the worst one morning while we were hitting the beaches by Kalaloch. While we had the clouds and wind, the rain never came, and by the afternoon we were back to clear skies with minimal wind for the beaches closer to Forks.
Read detailsThree of the shorter hikes we took the whole time in the park led to nice waterfalls. Each of these trails was extremely easy going, with one (Madison Falls) being a mere 0.2 miles, that winds through the woods on a paved trail with one of the best reveals of a waterfall as you take a curve in the trail.
