Saturday morning was the first day of a brutal cold wave in Northern MN. The weather was predicted to be a clear morning, so I packed the camera bag. The temperature when I headed out was -20.
The sky was pretty clear when I got the lakefront, though there was a slight fog rising from the surface. But, as I was hoping, the sundogs quickly surrounded the sun.
The first image above was taken while standing on the lake, and was a great view of the sunrays breaking through the fog. For the second image, I wanted an interesting foreground, so headed for the bridge on Irvin Ave. The railroad tracks gave the leading lines and interest in the foreground I was looking for.
